Andrew Basi

Bio

With over 20 years of hands-on experience, Andrew is a Managing Director of KSV’s Calgary office. His comprehensive understanding of restructuring and insolvency matters and his ability to navigate challenging financial situations have earned him a reputation as a leading, results-driven restructuring professional. Andrew joins KSV from a National Accounting Firm, where he led its Western Canada Restructuring Practice and was a member of its board of directors.

As a Chartered Professional Accountant and Insolvency Restructuring Professional, Andrew has extensive experience working with debtor companies, secured creditors, and stakeholders in formal and out-of-court insolvency processes. He has spearheaded numerous proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act across a variety of industries, including oil and gas, real estate, manufacturing, cannabis, IT, construction, forestry, insurance, retail, and agriculture.

Andrew has developed a strong reputation in the oil and gas industry. He was appointed as the receiver for the Alberta Energy Regulator, demonstrating his ability to manage complex processes and achieve favourable outcomes. Andrew also acted as the receiver in the Redwater case, demonstrating an excellent understanding of the legal issues involved in liquidations and end-of-life environmental obligations while contributing to a landmark decision made by the Supreme Court of Canada.

On each file, Andrew seeks to demystify the restructuring process so that his clients and companies understand the risks, opportunities, and steps needed to be successful. Exceptional at thinking on his feet, handling challenging situations, and negotiating when tensions are highest, clients can be confident in trusting Andrew. 

Outside of work, Andrew enjoys spending time with his family, playing and coaching soccer, working on his garden and developing his “green thumb,” as well as playing tennis and reading.
