Murtaza regularly goes above and beyond for his clients and colleagues. They appreciate his clear, around-the-clock communication and professional and pragmatic approach. He investigates, digs deep and prides himself on his strategic approach to complex problems that helps his clients to be well-prepared in all situations.

Murtaza acts as a trusted advisor to both creditors and debtors in variety of informal restructuring mandates as well as in formal court-appointments under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) and Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA).

Murtaza has been involved in several complex restructurings in a variety of industries, including retail and manufacturing, distribution, health care, cannabis, transportation and logistics, and sports. His recent work has included the CCAA proceedings of Metro 360, MJardin Group and MPX International and BIA proceedings of YSL Residences Inc., the Portland Winterhawks and Celadon Group, Inc., among a number of others.

Murtaza can always be counted on in all situations. Calm under pressure, he smoothly handles complex, time-sensitive and urgent situations. His clients are often in distressed situations, and he believes that they need an advisor who not only devises a solution but really cares too.

Murtaza is a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT). He holds an honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA). Before joining KSV Advisory, Murtaza was a Senior Consultant at Deloitte and a Senior Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers specializing in asset management and financial institutions. His background of leading engagements, managing multiple stakeholders and analyzing data to help companies become more efficient, productive, and cost-effective brings unique expertise to his restructuring work.
