Eddie Bauer is an iconic clothing chain headquartered in Bellevue, Washington offering premium-quality clothing, accessories and gear for men and women. At the time of the filing, Eddie Bauer operated approximately 370 stores. The Company employed over 8,500 individuals.
We were appointed by the Ontario Court as CCAA Monitor of Eddie Bauer’s Canadian business. Contemporaneously, Eddie Bauer filed for protection under Chapter 11 in the US. We worked extensively with Eddie Bauer's senior management and with the professionals in Canada and the US to design a cross-border strategic process, resulting in a $286 million going-concern sale transaction. We also worked with the tax advisors to maximize value from Eddie Bauer’s transfer pricing tax assets, which involved a prolonged and successful appeal process in the Federal Tax Court of Canada.
