We were retained by the board to provide a valuation of the issued and outstanding shares of a privately held P&C insurance company. The company provides commercial insurance products to Canadian businesses operating in the agriculture, cannabis, and amusement industries.
Our analysis included a review of the insurance company’s historical performance, written premium growth, key performance ratios (loss ratio, combined ratio, MCT ratio, etc.), investment returns, and an assessment of its ongoing capital requirements. In addition, we prepared a detailed analysis of the subject company’s performance relative to industry benchmarks and assessed the company’s capital adequacy having consideration for AM Best ratings. Our valuation report was used for corporate governance and shareholder capital allocation decisions as well as for setting annual management compensation.
